The History of Lymba
Language Computer Corporation (LCC), a natural language processing (NLP) focused company, was founded on December 4, 1995 by Dr. Dan Moldovan. It was originally made up of a handful of engineers and was located in a small office building located in Dallas, TX. LCC, now headquartered in Richardson, TX, became a leading NLP research and development (R&D) company as a result of developing breakthrough natural language-based question answering software solutions for automated, intelligent and natural interaction.
Lymba was formed in Richardson, TX in January 2005. The name Lymba was inspired from the word "limba" which means "language" in Romanian. Lymba was activated as a commercial spin-off from LCC in 2006. The company was created to address a commercial void in the marketplace for business intelligence and knowledge management solutions using NLP.
The intellectual property (IP) assets under license from LCC were transferred to Lymba. This means the technology that has won the National Text REtrieval Conference (TREC) competition sponsored by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) over the past six years in the Question and Answering category will belong to Lymba. The fact that this technology has consistently beaten the competition from some of the world’s most prestigious institutions speaks volumes to the quality of our products and technologies.
Lymba recognizes that its strength lies within its ability to retain and develop intelligent employees. The company's management team is experienced, motivated and led by one of the industry's leading NLP innovators, Dr. Dan Moldovan. The company currently employs a range of employees that possess NLP and software industry experience coupled with a deep academic background. Our employees maintain Bachelor, Masters and PhD degrees from some of the nation's top schools.
